Once you arrive at this beautiful, luxury Zihuatanejo resort, you will revel in the Capella Ixtapa experience. With an open-air reception area and warm Pacific breezes you will transition into an extraordinary adventure-filled vacation at Capella Ixtapa. All 59 suites face the ocean as terraces open up to the beauty of the Pacific Ocean, where stunning rock cliff landscapes meet crashing waves. These suites are located in five individual buildings. Hillside inclinators (elevators at a slant due to the cascading facade of the resort) take guests to their rooms, pools, private outdoor terraces and individual plunge pools that are positioned out of sight from other suites.
Your Chef’s Choice Package offers a truly unique and personal way to fully experience Mexican cuisine. You will meet the chef in the lobby at 10:00 a.m. Your professional chef will take you on a tour of the market in the town of Zihuatanejo, where you and the chef will pick out fresh, local ingredients to prepare for your traditional Mexican dishes. At the market, the chef will provide the history of the food, and the background on where your ingredients originate.
Upon your arrival back to the hotel, the chef will arrange the newly purchased ingredients in the kitchen in order to provide the optimal environment for teaching you on how to prepare some of the enticing dishes and international cocktails served in their gourmet restaurants. Classes are limited to two people in order to provide the most hands-on and personal experience possible.
Your package inclusions: A la carte breakfast for two each day. A dinner for two at The Seafood Market (without alcoholic drinks). The cooking class as mentioned above, with a tour to the local market. A Margarita Class, and poolside Mexican tapas for two are also included.
Las Rocas Restaurant – serves breakfast and lunch in a very relaxed and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant serves fruit plates, natural yogurt, freshly baked pastries and hot oatmeal OR Chilaquiles (tortillas with shredded chicken in green or tomato sauce topped with sour cream, fresh cheese, onion and cilantro), Molletes (toasted Mexican role with refried beans, Chorizo or beef, melted Oaxaca cheese served with Mexican salsa and guacgamole), Mexican style eggs (scrambled eggs with onion, cilantro, tomatoes, bell peppers, American, Mozzarella or Goat Cheese), and enchiladas – just to name a few.
Lunch at Las Rocas – offerings include an array of salads, ceviche appetizers. A sampling of their main course including smoked local fish flatbread, at least 5 different taco dishes and sandwiches. Las Rocas is open from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The Seafood Market – an alfresco cliffside grill suspended over the Pacific Ocean is a favorite dinner spot for Capella Ixtapa guests. The Seafood Market serves fresh seafood from the surrounding waters, caught daily and grilled on the spot. The menu changes based on the day’s catch, ensuring the freshest seafood and fish. With only nine tables, you are guaranteed exclusivity and privacy for the evening. The opening times are seasonal, and attire is casual.
A Mares Restaurant – is the signature restaurant in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, with an ever-changing, seasonal menu. A Mares features cuisine based on the best local produce and seafood of Guerrero, Mexico. Paired with the best international cuts and wines, every dish is prepared to represent the Pacific Coast’s authentic flavors of clean, innovate, and contemporary Mexican cuisine.
Samplings of their dinner menu include: Basil Powder and Blue Crab Salad, Roasted Beef Filet, Garlic Shrimp – just to name a few. Open from 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Terrace Bar – this bar is tiered in three levels and located on the fourth floor of the resort. The first level is climate controlled, while the other two levels are open-air, paired with stunning views, encouraging guests to sit beneath the Ixtapa sky filled with the brightest stars. You can enjoy lounge music, sushi and tapas. At the tequila bar guests are invited to enjoy a variety of traditional drinks, or try the Capella Basil Margarita – a refreshing new type of margarita.
There are two categories: Ocean Front Junior Suite, and Deluxe Ocean Front Junior Suite. All have private terraces with a plunge pool, air-conditioning, safety deposit box, alarm clock, smoke detector, ceiling fan, telephone, coffee/maker, television, hairdryer, wireless internet access, ironing board, maid service, mini-bar, CD/DVD player and shower.
