Take a demonstration and “hands-on” cooking class at the Graycliff Culinary Academy where the Executive chef and his chefs will teach you to prepare a variety of cuisines and entrees that might include Bahamian Conch Chowder or Guava Soufflé. Classes are offered every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. These are 4 hours in duration in a small intimate group setting. There is a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 participants. You will prepare an appetizer, main course and dessert accompanied by a glass of wine (or non-alcoholic beverage). You will also be given an apron, recipes and a participation certificate upon completion. The price is $187.50 for adults, and children over the age of 10 accompanied by a parent is $156.25. If you are a cigar afcionado learn the art of cigar making. This class is a cigar rolling demonstration with Rum tasting. You will learn how to clean, sort, store and how to roll a cigar. Learn how to blend different tobaccos to produce a flavorful cigar, as each blend is created to please the palate. This is a 1.5 hour class, and is offered on Mondays and Fridays at 11:30 a.m. There is a minimum number of 6 and a maximum of 12 participants. The cost is $150 per person, and participants must be 18+ years old. Sit back and enjoy your creation with rum tasting.
There is also a 1 hour cigar rolling class held Monday – Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Capacity is controlled to a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 12 participants. The price is $75 per person (18+ years old). This class is available Monday through Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Once you master this art, light and savor your creation.
Graycliff Wine Luncheon
All wine luncheon guests are welcomed with a glass of champagne, and your certified sommelier with lead you on a tour of the hotel and the restaurant’s renowned wine collection. All guests will be treated to a 4-course gourmet sumptuous meal paired with fine wines. You will enjoy an appetizer, soup or salad, main course and dessert. There is a minimum number of 2 and a maximum of 100 participants. Guests must be 18+ years of age. The duration is 1.5 hours. Availability is Monday through Friday at 12:00 noon.
Wine and Cheese Parings From Around the World – Take part in savoring the best cheeses from Italy, Spain, France, Australia, Argentina and Chile, with the restaurant’s certified Sommelier in attendance. Your palate will soar as the paired wine slowly blooms in your mouth to create divine flavors. This wine and cheese adventure will take you through a minimum of 8 wine tastings; four red, and four white, each paired with cheeses from around the world. You will also take a tour of their renowned wine cellar, which houses over 250,000 bottles from over 400 vintners in 15 countries. This is topped off with a wine themed souvenir for each guest. This experience is offered every Monday through Friday at 2:00 p.m., and is 2 hours in duration. The price for this adventure is $187.50 per person (18+ years of age). Graycliff – Chocolate and Spirits Paring – Your taste buds will be taken to a new level as you go on a delicious journey and learn the secrets behind pairing chocolate with spirits from beer, rum, wine, port and more. You will learn the art of artisanal chocolate production, and the reasons why certain chocolates taste better with specific spirits. As a guest, you will savor a variety of fine chocolates produced in the Graycliff Chocolatier factory paired with premium spirits including rum, whiskey, port and more. Also, imagine a whiskey paired with a Bahamian fruit-flavored chocolate that will tantalize your taste buds. This class is available to a minimum of 6 with a maximum of 24 guests, and is available Monday to Saturday at 11:15 a.m. The price is $75 per person (18+ years of age), and prices are subject to change.
Graycliff offers distinct room choices among its 20 rooms and suites, and each room is named after an historic name and appointed with antiques.
Deluxe King Rooms that measure approximately 450 square feet in size located in the gardens or overlooking the verandah.
Luxury Rooms measure in size from 500 to 650 square feet and have either a King bed or two double beds, with a sitting area.
King Suites range from 700 to 900 square feet in size, and have a separate sitting area.
The Graycliff King Suite is a 1,200 square foot suite, featuring a large sitting area with a balcony to enjoy the views.
There is also a Family Suite which is comprised of two rooms with a connecting door, one with a King Suite, and a luxury room with two beds accommodating a maximum of 5 people. Enjoy the views from your balcony. Rates start at $395 per person – per night. This rate does not include the promotion board levy, VAT and maid service charge.
The Graycliff Restaurant is the first Five-Star restaurant in the Caribbean. This AAA 4-diamond restaurant offers the best gourmet dining, mixing Bahamian specialties with European cuisine. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner with hotel guests, and is open to the public Monday through Friday. There is a strict dress code enforced at Graycliff. For lunch the dress is casual, yet on the elegant side. Dinner is elegant, and jackets are suggested, but not required. No shorts are allowed (dinner), and shoes must be worn at all times. Dining in the private dining room, the Wine Cellar and in the Chef’s dining room in the kitchen can be arranged on request. The bar is open from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., seven days a week. The Graycliff Restaurant has been named one of the best restaurants in the Caribbean for 2015, not only for their excellent cuisine, but also for the exemplary service.
Humidor Piazza – This is the new casual dining hub is home to the Churrascaria Humidor, Giotto Pizzeria and the Beer Garden. The bar is open Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. A Friday happy hour takes place from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
This Brazilian feast starts with a welcome caipirinha, Brazil’s national drink, and is followed by a Churrasco feast. The term Churrascaria (pronounced choo-rah-scah-ree-ah) refers to a restaurant that specializes in Rodizio – a Brazilian barbecue technique of grilling, cutting and serving several varieties of meats including chicken, pork, beef and lamb. The Humidor Churrascaria at the Graycliff prepares platter after platter of delectable seasoned, grilled and skewered meats exactly cut and served, one after another, tableside to each guest alongside a banquet-style buffet of impressive dishes ranging from a simple salad, bean dishes, savory vegetables, fresh fish and Brazilian specialties. Your feast includes your Churrasco meal, two caiprinhas and dessert. Wine, Beer or a non-alcoholic beverage may be substituted for apipirinhas. This feast is available to a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 100. The price is $87.50 per person, $50 per child (up to 10 years of age), plus a 7.5% VAT. Recipe for Caipirinha
1 T Superfine Sugar
2 Oz Cachaca (Brazilian Brandy made from sugarcane)
Cut the lime into 8 wedges. Muddle the wedges in a rocks glass with the sugar. Add the Cachaca and fill with ice. Then just stir and serve.
Giotto Pizzeria – This is an authentic eatery offering an array of traditional thin crust pizzas baked in a wood brick oven, along with other traditional Italian treats. It is open for lunch and dinner, Monday through Saturday.
The Beer Garden is open from noon to midnight, offering casual fare and small bites, as well as a large variety of beers and wines by the glass from around the world.
The Pool Bar is open daily for guests by the pool from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Dining service is also available.
Entertainment – Graycliff Restaurant’s pianist entertains each evening during dinner hours; and a DJ plays on Friday evenings at the Humidor Piazza’s Happy Hour.
Water Menu – Graycliff offers one of the most expansive bottled water menus in the world. There are over 50 brands of sparkling and natural bottled water for guests to choose from popular to exclusive.
There are two pools, one of which is 82 feet. There is also a fitness Center with free weights, weight machines, treadmills, bike, etc. A personal trainer is available on request.
Although Graycliff is not located on a beach, guests do have access to a secluded beach at nearby Blue Lagoon Island Beach which offers modern amenities including a full snack bar and grill, full service bar, showers and roundtrip ferry service. Water toys such as kayaks, paddle boats, aqua cycles and snorkeling gear are also available. It is also a 10-minute walk to the nearby Western Esplanade Beach.
Please note the dress code is strictly enforced at Graycliff Restaurant. For lunch, dress is casual, yet on the elegant side. For dinner the dress code is elegant; jackets are suggested, but not required. No shorts allowed (dinner), and shoes must be worn at all times.
